The job
Flat roofs behind parapet walls are a different animal from a sloped roof. Water has to be led to scuppers and drains, and every place the membrane turns up a wall or wraps a parapet is a spot that can leak if it isn't detailed right. We looked at this roof several times in 2023 and early 2024 before the replacement.
What we did
- Replaced the flat roof sections with a white TPO single-ply membrane (Sep 30 to Oct 11, 2024)
- Wrapped the parapet walls with membrane and formed the inside and outside corners
- Flashed the skylight curbs and scuppers
- Followed up after the install with return visits
Why TPO here
A white TPO membrane reflects a lot of the Texas sun, its seams are heat-welded rather than glued, and it handles the many corners and wall transitions on a home like this. It's the same system we install on commercial low-slope roofs.
