GAF's earlier Grand Canyon line no longer appears in GAF's 2026 product lists, so we don't quote it. If your current roof is Grand Canyon, Grand Sequoia or Camelot II is the usual match.
Designer vs. Timberline
Most GAF roofs in Texas are Timberline architectural shingles. Designer lines are heavier, with bigger tabs, more layers and deeper shadows. They cost more and take longer to install, but from the street they read as a custom roof rather than a standard one.
Hail and insurance
Most designer shingles are Class 3 or not impact-rated, while several Timberline lines are Class 4. If the credit matters to you, ask about Grand Sequoia AS, or compare CertainTeed Grand Manor, which is a Class 4 designer shingle. Texas insurers must offer a premium credit for UL 2218 impact-rated roofs, but each company sets its own amount, and Class 4 earns the largest. We can't promise a discount; ask your insurer for their figure in writing. After a qualifying install we fill out TDI Form PC068 for you.
How we install designer shingles
- Inspection and photo report. Every inspection comes with a free digital photo report, so you see what we see.
- Samples on your house. Designer color blends look different in Texas sun than in a brochure, so we bring full-size samples.
- HOA packet. Product sheet, color name and photos for your architectural committee.
- Tear-off and deck check. Designer shingles are heavy and show every dip in the deck, so we fix soft spots first.
- Manufacturer-matched system. Starter, hip and ridge, underlayment and ventilation from the same maker, installed to their instructions so the full warranty applies.
- Final walk and photos.
