About Krum
Krum is on Farm Road 1173 about seven miles northwest of Denton. The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway platted the townsite on 200 acres in the mid-1880s and named it for railroad official Charles K. Krum. By 1900 the railroad was shipping half a million bushels of wheat from there, prompting the claim that Krum was the "largest inland grain market in the world." Census estimates show growth from 5,491 residents in 2020 to about 6,808 in 2025.
