Class 4 Impact-Resistant Shingle Roofs

Class 4 is the highest impact rating under UL 2218. We install Class 4 shingle roofs for homeowners in Bridgeport, Decatur, Rhome and the towns around them. Every shingle roof we install is Class 3 impact-rated or better, with Class 4 available. We fill out TDI Form PC068 on every qualifying install so you can ask your insurer about a premium credit.

Who Class 4 is a good fit for

  • Homeowners whose insurer offers a meaningful credit for Class 4 (call and ask before you decide)
  • Homes that have needed hail claims before. Wise County logged 2.75-inch hail at the Bridgeport airport in May 2025 and again in April 2026 (NOAA)
  • Anyone who wants the most impact resistance a shingle can offer without moving to metal
  • Sellers getting ready to list who want a roof that stands up to a buyer's inspection

How the insurance paperwork works

Texas insurers can give a premium credit for roof coverings rated under UL 2218. The Texas Department of Insurance says the amount varies by company, and Class 4 generally earns the largest credit. We can't promise any discount, and we don't promise one for Class 3. Call your insurer before you choose. When we install a qualifying roof, we fill out TDI Form PC068 for you to send them.

  1. Call your insurer first. Ask whether they credit UL 2218 roofs and how much for Class 3 and for Class 4.
  2. Pick your shingle. We'll show you the Class 4 lines we install. [CONFIRM: which designer / luxury and Class 4 shingle lines you install (name only lines you actually install)].
  3. Install. We install to the manufacturer's specifications so the product warranty applies.
  4. Paperwork. We complete TDI Form PC068 and give you the product information to send your insurer.

Class 4 vs. Class 3

Both ratings are tested the same way. A Class 3 shingle survived 1.75-inch steel balls, and a Class 4 survived 2-inch balls. Class 3 is our minimum, so even our most basic roof is impact-rated. Most people choose Class 4 for the insurance credit. If your insurer doesn't give a credit, Class 3 can still be the smart buy. We'll go over the numbers with you honestly.

After a storm

A Class 4 roof can still get damaged. After a big hail event, we'll inspect it, photograph what we find, and tell you if anything needs attention. See storm & hail inspections.

Residential warranty: a 10-year transferable workmanship warranty, with manufacturer warranties up to lifetime. Manufacturer coverage depends on the product and brand, and on the project qualifying for that manufacturer's program. We put the exact warranty for your roof in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Class 4 insurance discount in Texas?

It depends on your insurance company. The Texas Department of Insurance says insurers may offer a premium credit for roofs rated under UL 2218 and that the amount varies by company. Class 4 generally earns the largest credit. Call your insurer for the exact number before choosing a roof.

What is TDI Form PC068?

PC068 is the Texas Department of Insurance form a roofing installer fills out to certify that an impact-resistant roof covering was installed. You send it to your insurance company to request any credit they offer.

Do Class 4 shingles look different from regular shingles?

Not usually. Class 4 shingles come in the same architectural and designer styles as other shingles, so most people cannot tell the difference from the street.
