Why Westlake estates ask about Enviroshake
Westlake is a small town of about 2,057 residents (2025 Census estimate) made up mostly of custom homes in gated and planned communities such as Vaquero, Glenwyck Farms, Terra Bella, Granada and Entrada. Most have architectural guidelines that control roofing materials and colors. Composite shake and slate are designed to look like natural materials, which is why they come up often when an HOA wants the cedar or slate look without the upkeep of wood or the weight of stone.
Blake Snow is a certified Enviroshake installer and Enviroshake representative. Enviroshake advertises that its products must be installed by a Factory Trained Installer and registered to qualify for the manufacturer's transferable 50-year limited lifetime material warranty. We install to Enviroshake's guide and handle the registration paperwork.
Enviroshake, Enviroslate or EnviroShingle?
| Collection | Look |
|---|---|
| Enviroshake | Composite cedar-shake profile that weathers toward a natural gray |
| Enviroslate | Slate look at a lighter weight than quarried stone |
| EnviroShingle | Enviroshake's third residential line; we bring samples of each |

A real Enviroshake project we already completed
Our crews put Enviroshake on a roughly 25,000 sq ft ranch estate in Clay County, paired with standing seam metal we formed in-house on the board-and-batten wing and low-slope sections. The hardest part of a roof like that is the transitions: shake to metal, hips, a chimney and a glass gable entry. Westlake estates with guest houses, porches and metal accents often need the same kind of detailing.
Hail near Westlake
NOAA's Storm Events Database lists 4.25-inch hail near Bartonville and 4-inch hail near Grapevine Reservoir on June 11, 2023. More recently, NOAA's Storm Prediction Center logged 1-inch hail northwest of Grapevine on May 22, 2026 and along Hwy 114 in Grapevine on June 2, 2026. Enviroshake publishes a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating for qualifying products — the highest class under that test. No roof is hail-proof, but Class 4 is the top rating. After a qualifying install we complete TDI Form PC068 for your insurer. If you file an insurance claim, we document the damage and meet your adjuster on the roof. Texas law requires you to pay your deductible, and a contractor may not waive, absorb or rebate it. We never will.
Westlake permits and HOA packets
Contractors have to register with the Town of Westlake, and permits go through the Town's online MyGov system. Most Westlake HOAs want product sheets, colors and ratings before they approve a composite roof. We put that packet together for your architectural committee.
