Why standing seam fits Colleyville's housing
TSHA notes that Colleyville, incorporated in 1956 on State Highway 26 in northeastern Tarrant County, grew from 12,724 residents in 1990 to 22,807 in 2010, and the Census Bureau estimates about 25,727 today. That means many homes are 15 to 35 years old, and their first or second roof is coming due. For owners who don't want to replace a roof again in 15 years, standing seam is the most common step up we're asked about.
Full roof or accent roof?
Plenty of Colleyville homes keep a designer shingle on the main roof and add standing seam over the front porch, a bay window or the entry. Others go all metal on modern farmhouse and transitional homes. Both work. See standing seam accents and our questions to ask before you sign a Colleyville metal roof contract.
What we install
| Choice | Options |
|---|---|
| Seam type | Snap-lock or mechanically seamed (see which to choose) |
| Gauge | 24 or 26 gauge steel (see why we skip 29 gauge on homes) |
| Finish | Painted finishes in many colors (see colors and finishes) |
| Underlayment | High-temperature synthetic underlayment |
Cost depends on the roof's size, pitch, complexity and gauge. Our standing seam cost page explains what drives the price.
Hail and metal in northeast Tarrant County
NOAA's Storm Events Database lists 1.5-inch hail at Colleyville on May 27, 2024, and Tarrant County logged more than 500 hail reports from 2016 through mid-2026, including 115 golf-ball size or larger and a 5-inch report in June 2023. In 2026 the Storm Prediction Center logged 1-inch hail just northwest of Grapevine on May 22 and in Grapevine on June 2, a few miles north. Standing seam sheds hail and wind-driven rain well, but very large hail can still dent it, and we tell you that before you sign. If you file an insurance claim, we document the damage and meet your adjuster on the roof. Texas law requires you to pay your deductible, and a contractor may not waive, absorb or rebate it. We never will.
Colleyville re-roof permits
The City of Colleyville requires a permit on all re-roof projects and requires roofing contractors to register with the city. The city's inspection covers the outside of the house and an attic check of vent piping and exhaust vents. Fees and steps change, so we confirm them with Building Inspections before your job starts.
