Why Frisco owners ask about standing seam
Frisco sits on State Highway 289 and Farm Road 720 about 30 miles north of Dallas, mostly in Collin County with a part in Denton County, and Census estimates show about 237,000 residents. A lot of Frisco housing stock is newer suburban and master-planned, with large, simple roof planes and tall two-story elevations that show from the street. Standing seam suits that shape: long clean runs, concealed fasteners, and no screw pattern across a wall of roof you can see from the curb.

Snap-lock or mechanically seamed?
Most homes get snap-lock panels, which lock together without a seaming tool. Much of Frisco sits under association review, so appearance and documentation matter as much as performance. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists 69 reports of hail 1.75 inches (golf-ball size) or larger within about 10 miles of Frisco from 2016 through September 2026. The largest was 4.5-inch hail on March 24, 2019 near Allen, about 6.6 miles from Frisco. More recent big hail nearby includes 3.5-inch on June 11, 2023 near Carney and 3-inch on April 20, 2023 near Plano. Standing seam usually keeps working after storms that would ruin a shingle roof, but very large hail can still dent it.
